Mr. Overton’s Story

Richard Overton is a living legend, he is not only the oldest surviving WWII veteran but also the oldest living man in the USA. 🇱🇷

Mr. Overton was born in Bastrop County, Texas on May 11, 1906.

He was inducted into the U.S. military on September 3, 1943 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He served in the South Pacific from 1943 through 1945, including stops in Hawaii, Guam, Palau and Iwo Jima. He left the U.S. Army in October 1945 as a technician fifth grade.

After leaving the Army he worked at local furniture stores before taking a position with the Texas Department of the Treasury in Austin. He was married twice and never had children.

Nowadays, you can find Mr. Overton residing in his east Austin home of over 40 years. He enjoys his time smoking cigars and drinking whiskey on his front porch.
